Branding Aeroponics - “hortus”
Project & Product Background
The clients invented a new product, a kit for growing edible plants using a new technology, “aeroponics”. The difference to aqua- or hydroponics is, that the roots are not fully immersed in water but get sprayed with a fine mist that also supplies the plants with the required nutrients. This technology has the advantage of needing less water, and providing the roots with oxygen, which allows them to grow better and healthier.
Branding Project
At the time of the project, the team had only created the product, no name and no design ideas. The branding design started with only the device and technology set.
The device is a very technical machine, which works with a lot of data and has a large amount of scientific knowledge and programs working, the theme of science and botany was the core inspiration. The special technology with spraying water instead of using a body of water was also a huge core theme, as it was the USP. The idea that it produces edible plants in the customer’s home lead to the idea of branding it as a garden.
